Fellow Foodies: Wheat and Spoon.
Bread and Soup.
Yum and Yum!
Meet Christie and Anna…our latest Fellow Foodies! We LOVE these two beauties because:
a) They are another mom and daughter duo just like us
b) They are definitely foodies just like us
c) We have known them forever so we just love them already
d) They just created “Wheat and Spoon,” their weekly homemade bread and soup business. We cannot brag enough about the culinary talents of these two!
So Christie…truly, one of the most talented people we know. She has the most amazing voice, and has serious street cred: She has sung in the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir for the past ten years, not to mention numerous operas across the country!
Christie loves to hike, and her “food for the soul” is being in the mountains. Anna says, “My mom is the perfect ‘soup lady,’ She is always happy, and makes people feel warm and happy, too!” She took culinary classes and is a serious foodie, but her secret food obsession is Reese’s Puffs cereal.
And Anna…yoga teacher, indoor cycling coach, bicycle racer, oil painter. Wow. So talented! She loves hanging with her hubby, Johnny, and her cat, Pepper. She could probably move into the restaurant, Riverhorse on Main in Park City, and be happy forever. Anna has a freakish obsession with any kind of fried potatoes, and biscuit and gravy-flavored potato chips are her absolute fav. And we can brag on Anna a bit…she’s one of the most genuine, kind, loving people we know.
We LOVE both these ladies! Can you tell?
SO how did “Wheat and Spoon” come to be? Anna remembers bringing her friends home for lunch in high school all the time to eat the fresh bread her mom had just baked. And recently, Anna had been posting her homemade soups on instagram, which caught a lot of attention from her followers.
One day, Christie and Anna just decided to go for it. They didn’t have a business name, plan, logo, anything…just a mutual love of cooking, baking and food…and the desire to do something they love together.
And WOW! In a few short weeks, business has exploded. They work tirelessly in their basement kitchen to make 80 quarts of soup and 96 loaves of bread, which fly out their doors each Tuesday!
Chicken noodle, sausage lentil kale, turkey wild rice, white chicken chili, Italian fennel and sausage, potato leek and bacon…a new soup each week! And always, Christie’s famous to-die-for homemade bread and honey butter. Lucky, lucky customers.
If you’re a Salt Lake local and want to try their delicious homemade soup and bread each Tuesday, head to their instagram to place your order!
Wheat and spoon. Bread and soup. Christie and Anna. Comfort and love.
