Today’s topic: How to make the perfect smoothie bowl.
Or maybe you’re asking yourself, “What in the world are these ‘smoothie bowl’ things everyone’s talking about?” If you haven’t dabbled in the smoothie-with-a-spoon concept yet, let me enlighten you…
They’re basically an extra-thick smoothie eaten from a bowl (with a spoon!) and adorned with glorious toppings like crunchy granola, fresh fruit, nut butter and coconut shreds.
Oh the day I tried my first smoothie bowl…my world was changed for the better. I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but a bright and beautiful smoothie bowl can be just as satisfying as a bowl of rocky road ice cream. Say what? Yup. This is coming from ME…ice cream lover of the century.
They’re just so FUN! I’ve tried all sorts of combos…
✓Berry Banana
✓Mango Strawberry
✓Creamy Chocolate
✓Green Apple
The list goes on and on.
The best part about smoothie bowls, is you get to be as creative as you want! Just use these basic principles, and start experimenting with what you have in your kitchen.
*Directions: Pick 1-2 items from each category. Mix everything in a blender, pour in a bowl, cover with toppings and enjoy with a spoon!
*A few tips: Smoothie bowls are best when they’re nice and thick! Use frozen fruit and start with a smaller amount of liquid, then add until desired consistency is reached. If you still need to thicken the consistency, simply add a handful of ice cubes.
