Tell us about yourself!

I’m a Personal Trainer, originally from Salt Lake City, UT. Lived abroad in Germany & France for a year and now currently living in Spokane, WA, getting a taste of the Pacific Northwest. I love all things fitness & food. 🙂 From trail running, skiing, biking, tennis, hiking, and surfing, to yoga, weight lifting, spinning, and pilates, I love it all! I’m a total foodie, love to cook, and love to eat. I believe in a healthy balance. Enjoying good food with good company is part of that. I focus on whole foods, lots of veggies, and treating myself occasionally (including some dark chocolate every day). 😉

Tell us about your fitness background.
I absolutely love my job as a trainer. I graduated from the University of Utah in Exercise Sports Science & Nutrition. I have my Exercise Physiologist certification through ACSM. I launched my online training business with my website (www.bodydesignbybrit.com) in 2013 and have been enjoying the ride ever since! Outside of my online training space, I currently train 1:1 clients & small groups at a gym here in spokane (FitEdge) and teach TRX classes at The Union.

I love working with a broad range of clients from osteoporosis patients 60 years plus, to young stay-at-home moms wanting to lose the baby weight. My passion is helping people find body confidence and love for themselves and appreciating all the amazing things our bodies can do for us. There’s too much body shaming in the fitness world. I’m passionate about inspiring women to find beauty in strength, leaving the scale & yoyo dieting behind. I love helping my clients discover that whole, real foods can be the most powerful healer. I believe in baby steps towards healthy habits is the best way to create a long lasting healthy lifestyle.

What is your advice for people who would like to live healthier and become more fit?

-Start where you’re at and just make one small change towards a healthier YOU. Don’t get caught up comparing yourself to someone who has been on this journey a lot longer, growing their own organic garden and making Kale muffins, or whatever it is. Maybe for you it’s starting with drinking another glass of water each day, or adding a vegetable. Start where you’re at and keep moving forward. Taking on too much at once can be very overwhelming!

-And as far as exercise goes, schedule it in as a priority in your day. Most busy moms have a schedule and to do list with a million things on it. Pencil in your workout just like you would a hair appointment. Even if it’s just 15 minutes, you can squeeze it in, and if it’s on the schedule you’re much less likely to cancel!

Anything else you’d like Kiwi and Carrot readers to know?

The fitness world seems to always be changing. There’s always going to be the latest and greatest diet going around, and “the best way” to get the body of your dreams, but my greatest advice is just to keep it simple. Fuel your body with real food, eat more vegetables, eat less sugar, and stay active, keep moving! It’s simple really. 🙂

Also, I wanted to spread the love to all my foodie friends here at Kiwi and Carrot so you’re getting an exclusive discount code for 15% off any Body Design by Brit services. You can use it on any of my meal plan and fitness programs on my website, or towards your first month of online training or meal planning services! The code is: ‘kiwiandcarrot.’
